Features

The settings are divided into four sections.

Display Options

Color Scheme

Selecting this option brings up the Color Schemes screen allowing you to select a different color scheme. You may also create your own color schemes. Note: The ability to create custom color schemes is a paid upgrade in the standard version of MyStuff2.

List Text Size

This setting affects the height of the rows displayed on the item list screen. Smaller sizes use a smaller font allowing for more text to appear on each line.

Date Format

This setting lets you choose how you would like dates to appear by default. Date type attributes allow you to set a format specific to that date. Those attributes with a date format of Default use this setting's format.

Time Format

This setting lets you choose how you would like times to appear by default. Time type attributes allow you to set a format specific to that time. Those attributes with a time format of Default use this setting's format.

Pictures First

This setting affects the display of the Item screen. If ON then pictures appear at the top of the screen. If OFF then pictures appear after all the attribute values.

Category Icons

This setting affects the display of the categories on the Categories screen and items on the item list screen. If ON then the category icons will appear to the left of the category names and item values. An individual category can have its icon removed on the Item Display screen by clearing the Icon property.

Category Colors

This setting affects the display of the categories on the Categories screen. If ON then each category is shown using the same colors defined in the category's Item Display setup. If OFF then the categories are displayed normally based on the chosen color scheme.

Action Colors

This setting affects the display of the actions on the Actions screen. If ON then each action is shown using the same colors defined on the Action screen. If OFF then the actions are displayed normally based on the chosen color scheme.

Sorting Options

Section Item Counts

This setting affects the item list screen. If ON then the number of items in each section are shown in the section header. If OFF then the counts are not shown. When applying specific sorts to an item list you can specify whether item counts are displayed for that specific sort.

Auto Show Sort Values

This setting affects the item list screen. When you sort the list of items by a specific attribute but that attribute is not part of the item's display, it isn't clear why the items are in the order that they are in. If this setting is ON and the attribute being sorted on isn't part of the item's display, then the sort attribute is automatically added as a prefix to the item's subtitle. This makes it more clear as to why the items are sorted the way they are. If this setting is OFF then no change is made to the item's display.

Feature Options

Safe Item Viewing

This setting affects the functionality of the Item screen. If OFF then most values on the Item screen can be changed whether in view or edit mode. If ON then no values can be changed in view mode. You must enter edit mode to change any values.

Barcode Scanning

This option only appears for devices with a camera. MyStuff2 includes its own internal barcode scanner. This setting gives you the option to use another 3rd party iOS app, Pic2shop, to perform the barcode scanning. If the internal barcode scanner does not seem to be working for you then it is recommended you try Pic2shop.

Barcode Scan Beep

This option specifies whether MyStuff2 should make a beep sound each time you scan a barcode or not.

This option lets you choose a default picture source when adding pictures to items, categories, groups, locations, and containers. If you select "Prompt" then you will always be prompted to choose a source. if you select "Last Used" then whatever you used last will be the default for the next picture. If you pick any other source then when adding an image, tapping the Add Picture row will use the default picture source. Tap the circled icon to the right of Add Picture to view the full list of picture sources.

Custom Item Attributes

This setting determines whether you can add custom attributes to items. Any custom attributes added to an item only apply to that specific item. If you wish to add an attribute that applies to all items in a category, update the category by adding the additional attribute. It should be a rare situation to add custom attributes to an item.

Location Accuracy

This setting affects the accuracy of the GPS coordinates obtained when entering a value for a Location type attribute. The higher the accuracy the longer it takes to get a good value and more battery power is used.

Database Options

This section lets you access the settings for the current database. This is a convenience for accessing the database settings from the Databases screen.

Database Defaults

Each database gets its own set of these options. These options are used as the initial values of any new database. Changing any of these values has no effect on any existing database. To change one or more of these options for an existing database, including the currently selected database, you must change the database specific settings. This is done by going to Tools, then Databases. Tap Edit then select the database.

Ignore Prefixes

This setting affects the item list screen and how items are sorted. When ON then prefixes entered under Ignored Prefixes will be ignored for the purposes of sorting the value. When OFF then no part of a value is ignored for the purpose of sorting.

Ignored Prefixes

This is the user supplied list of prefixes to ignore when sorting item values. By default this list includes the words a, an, and the which are typically ignored in English when sorting. Add or change the prefixes to suit your needs or your language. Prefixes such as l' (French, for example) are also supported.

Auto Sort Categories

This setting affects the display of the categories on the Categories screen. If ON then categories are automatically displayed in alphabetical order. If OFF then you can manually sort the categories any way you wish.

Auto Sort Collections

This setting affects the display of the category collections on the Categories screen and on the Collections screen. If ON then collections are automatically displayed in alphabetical order. If OFF then you can manually sort the collections any way you wish.

Auto Sort Locations

This setting affects the display of the locations on the Locations screen. If ON then locations are automatically displayed in alphabetical order. If OFF then you can manually sort the locations any way you wish.

Auto Sort Actions

This setting affects the display of the actions on the Actions screen. If ON then actions are automatically displayed in alphabetical order. If OFF then you can manually sort the actions any way you wish.

Auto Sort Lookups

This setting affects the display of the lookups on the Lookups screen. If ON then lookups are automatically displayed in alphabetical order. If OFF then you can manually sort the lookups any way you wish.

Auto Sort Filters

This setting affects the display of the filters on the Filters screen. If ON then filters are automatically displayed in alphabetical order. If OFF then you can manually sort the filters any way you wish.

Auto Sort Sorts

This setting affects the display of the sorts on the Sorts screen. If ON then sorts are automatically displayed in alphabetical order. If OFF then you can manually sort the sorts any way you wish.

Pictures Size

By default any pictures added through MyStuff2 will be kept in their original size. If you have many pictures created by using a high resolution camera, such as on the iPhone 4, then your data will start to take up more storage space. This will make export and backup files very large. This can slow down iTunes synching. And it can slow down MyStuff2 when viewing items containing several large pictures. Use this option to tell MyStuff2 to use smaller sized pictures. If you choose a smaller size, MyStuff2 will give you the chance to have all existing pictures made smaller. Unless you have a backup of your data, this can't be undone. Note - pictures will never be made larger than their current size.
