This screen lets you add a new lookup or edit the properties of an existing lookup.
The Lookup screen displays all of the lookup properties. This includes:
- Sort Choices
At the bottom of the screen is the toolbar (hidden while in edit mode). The toolbar includes icons for copying
the lookup and for sharing the lookup definition with another user of MyStuff2.
The Lookup screen is in either view mode or edit mode. To enter edit mode tap the Edit button. To return to view
mode tap the Done button. When adding a new lookup you are already in edit mode. Tapping Save will save the new
lookup. Tapping Cancel will cancel the new lookup.
Changing a lookup's name requires being in edit mode. Each lookup must have a unique name. The name should
be no more than a few words. Keep the names specific. Avoid something like 'Genre', or 'Type'. Instead use
'Movie Genre', 'Game Genre', 'Console Type', 'Binding Type', etc.
MyStuff2 supports many different types of data. Pick a type most appropriate for the information you wish to enter
when adding items. Note: changing the type of an existing lookup list can result
in data loss on existing items if the existing values can't be safely converted from the old type to the new
When this option is on, the choices of the lookup can't be changed from a lookup selection screen. You can only
edit the choices from this screen. When off, it is possible to add new values to the lookup from a lookup
- Sort Choices
When set to No, the choices of a lookup can be sorted manually. When set to Asc the choices are automatically
sorted in ascending order. When set to Desc the choices are automatically sorted in descending order.
Different lookup types can have zero or more additional settings. Text types allow you to indicate
how you want capitalization and spell checking handled. Other types have settings to define the format of
entered values. Some types have no settings.
This shows the current number of choices. Tapping this row takes you to the
Choices screen allowing you to add, edit, and delete the choices of the lookup list.
- Used By Category Attributes
This section displays a list of category attributes that are using the lookup list. This section does not appear
in Edit mode. This section does not appear if no category attributes are using the lookup list.
- Used By Action Attributes
This section displays a list of action attributes that are using the lookup list. This section does not appear
in Edit mode. This section does not appear if no action attributes are using the lookup list.
You may provide a note about the lookup. The note will appear on the Lookups screen.
The toolbar provides:
- Copy Lookup
Tap the copy icon to create a copy of the current lookup.
Copying a lookup has no affect on any existing lookups, attributes, or items.
All you need to do is give the new lookup a name and make whatever other changes you need.
- Share Lookup
You can choose to share the current lookup list. The lookup is exported as a MyStuff2 template file (msd).
You are given the choice of how to export the msd file. Sending it via email makes it easy for the recipient to
import the lookup into their own copy of MyStuff2.
